We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to estimate work of high-end custom home projects. The estimator’s work includes gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. In addition, they estimate labor, material, and time requirements in order to be able to compute the overall cost of the project. The estimator should be familiar with computer programs commonly used in construction estimating, be able to create reports and report to upper management and be able to perform complex analysis of collected data and metrics.

The Construction Estimator must be an adaptable team player. Taking pride in being a part of Terra Firma Custom Homes and fully representing everything we stand for. They will be dealing with subcontractors, material vendors, working with engineers, and architects as needed.

The Construction Estimator we are looking for will have previous experience in construction management, architecture, engineering or other related work and or educational experience. The ideal applicant will be highly organized, with the ability to plan ahead and multitask in order to meet deadlines and keep projects on schedule. An engineering background and approach is desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent Terra Firma in a professional manner at all times, including when working with vendors, subcontractors, the community, driving, and working with team members.

  • Gather and source all necessary materials and information related to pricing construction projects.

  • Explore documentation in order to gain understanding of the project requirements.

  • Seek timely, accurate, and complete estimates from subcontractors and material vendors. Compare those estimates to the project plans, specifications, and finish schedules.

  • Calculate, measure, and confirm unit quantities from construction plan sets.

  • Create material take-offs.

  • Create and disseminate requests for estimates/bids and track those requests.

  • Ensure supplies and equipment are ordered and delivered according to schedule.

  • Prepare reports regarding job estimate status.

  • Collaborate with subcontractors, engineers, architects and key team members of the project team.

  • Negotiate with external vendors on contract agreements.

  • Create subcontracts and purchase orders.

Qualifications:

  • Education in Architecture, Building Science, Engineering, Construction Management or another related field.

  • Extensive previous work experience developing/managing budgets for construction projects.

  • Excellent knowledge of construction material and equipment.

  • Highly organized

  • Previous experience in a leadership role with strong and proven leadership skills.

  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite, Engineering Software, Estimating Software, Drafting Software and generally strong computing skills.

  • Previous work experience in construction estimation or another similar role.

  • Understanding of construction processes.

  • Able to plan ahead.

  • Familiar with construction and project estimation software programs.

  • Conflict resolution and conflict management experience.

  • Excellent time management ability.

  • Able to multitask with a strong understanding of core manager duties.

  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities, including negotiation skills.

  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs. to 100 lbs. individually or in a team effort while moving equipment and materials.

LANDSCAPE OPERATIONS MANAGER

Terra Firma Landscape & Excavation is looking to hire a Landscape Operations Manager for our Grand County business. This position requires a responsible self-starter who can oversee all aspects of production on a portfolio of maintenance accounts, manage multiple crews (some of which are seasonal), and take the lead on client relationship management. The LOM must be familiar with each job’s specifications and ensure compliance with our quality standards. Responsibilities include overseeing the construction of outdoor spaces and hardscapes, managing labor, materials, and equipment to ensure all operations run smoothly and efficiently, monitoring and training workers, ensuring staff observe safety guidelines and protocols, and completing various accounting and administrative duties. You should have leadership skills and a sound knowledge of mathematics, gradework, and landscape construction.

To be successful in this role, you must be able to both follow and provide instructions. An ideal Landscape Operations Manager will strive to continually expand their landscape construction knowledge, be a keen problem-solver, and possess remarkable organizational and communication skills. The LOM must work alongside company owners to ensure operations both adhere to company standards and achieve profit goals for the year. This role is responsible for budget management, time tracking, monitoring job cost reports, and reporting back to the crew(s) to enhance productivity and job efficiency. In addition to operational responsibilities, the LOM assists in hiring processes, performance evaluations, and employee development and training.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage landscape design, proposals, and construction from concept to completion.

  • Inventory Management; source, order, and stock the yard. Anticipate what materials we will need before the season starts and throughout the season. Coordinate use of materials.

  • Scheduling; coordinate project timelines and maintenance timelines with crews, subcontractors, clients, etc.

  • Maintain positive relationships with clients. Regularly update clients.

  • Communicate with clients about their project needs to write proposals. Confirm costs/budget, authorize purchases, and review invoices.

  • Delegate tasks and oversee the use of tools and equipment.

  • Coordinate snow removal operations.

  • Recruit and train new crew members.

  • Attend networking events as needed/required.

  • Facilitate a positive, results-driven team work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Required: High School Diploma

  • Residence in Grand County

  • Current Drivers License

  • TradePreferred: Bachelor’s Degree

  • Minimum 3-5 years of landscape installation experience.

  • Knowledge of tools and equipment used in landscape maintenance.

  • Heavy equipment operation experience. (Skid Steer, Mini Excavator, etc.)

  • Truck and trailer hauling capabilities. (CDL is an advantage but not required.)

  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel proficiency. Bluebeam proficiency.

  • Hands-on professional training as a landscape crew member.

  • Familiarity with landscape architecture plans.

  • Significant experience in a leadership role.

  • Ability to provide clear written and verbal instructions.

PROJECT MANAGER

Project Managers oversee all aspects of construction from pre-construction through post-occupancy. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who is client focused, team driven, detail oriented, and enthusiastic about building exceptional custom homes.

Superintendent

Superintendents oversee on-site day-to-day construction from inception through completion in the field. Our ideal candidate is team-driven, detail-oriented, and has ample experience working in the field on projects with similar quality and scope to ours.
