Landscape Maintenance Crew

The Terra Firma Landscape Maintenance Crew position performs landscape maintenance for a portfolio of over 30 valued clients in Grand County, in addition to performing new landscape installations for clients who have built a custom home with Terra Firma Custom Homes. The ideal candidate takes instructions very well and knows how to be a part of a hardworking team. We have a high volume of manual labor work on a daily basis, and we provide professional landscape services to a wide range of high-profile clients. Proactive, hardworking people with a positive attitude and high endurance are a must. This is a team working dynamic and laborers must be able to take instructions well to execute simultaneous tasks. Reliable transportation to/from the Terra Firma construction yard (located in Granby) is a must. Work vehicles are provided to the team, but you may be required to use your own transportation to travel to job sites around Grand County if needed. This is a manual labor position – candidate must be able to stay in motion throughout the day, lift items, maneuver equipment, etc. This is a seasonal job with a typical season duration of mid-May to November. This position requires you to work 10-12 hours a day, 4 days a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Weeding and pruning

  • Mulching along with grass and wildflower seeding

  • Raking and digging holes for large-scale plantings

  • Manually hauling cobble and rock as needed

  • Watering, irrigation monitoring and installing temporary irrigation as needed

  • Deadheading, fertilizing and mowing and/or weed whacking

  • Repairing hardscapes

  • Hauling debris and tree removal

  • Miscellaneous additional tasks as required

Compensation:

  • $18-25/hr. or more depending on experience.

  • Overtime is provided at a 1.5 rate of pay.

  • An end-of-season bonus is given to each employee who completes the season.

apprentice carpenter

We are looking for an applicant who has a basic introduction to carpentry, is hard working, and is willing to learn more.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all carpentry labor for job; utilize help as needed.

  • Coordinate materials ordering and delivery:  ensure timely delivery, check all job tickets to ensure proper delivery of all items, and coordinate and track returns. 

  • Maintain clean and tidy job premises at all times, including dust protection, daily cleanup, organized tool and material storage, weekly trash removal, and final cleanup.

  • Maintain all personal and company tools. 

  • Participate in pre-construction conference and quality control pre-completion punch list, completing own punch list.

  • Save all items as directed that are to be reused.

  • Protect all of the customer’s property. 

  • Know all shut-off locations for electrical, gas, water, security, sprinkler systems, etc. 

  • Maintain job-site safety procedures.

  • Keep job equipment on site and in good working order. 

  • Be able to work productively at all required working heights.

  • Perform other job duties and responsibilities as needed and requested by management or immediate supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Must have valid drivers license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.

  • Must be able to lift and use safely all tools and materials necessary in the construction trade.

  • Hours are 7 am-5:30 pm Mon-Thur. Friday work is encouraged but not mandatory. 

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds up a ladder to a second-story roof on a continuous basis. 

  • Must be able to work productively at all required working heights.

  • Must have hand tools – hammers, drill gun, tool belt, tape measure, etc. Terra Firma will provide large tools.

  • Preferred one year experience with carpentry, cabinetry, power tools, home building.

LANDSCAPE OPERATIONS MANAGER

Terra Firma Landscape & Excavation is looking to hire a Landscape Operations Manager for our Grand County business. This position requires a responsible self-starter who can oversee all aspects of production on a portfolio of maintenance accounts, manage multiple crews (some of which are seasonal), and take the lead on client relationship management. The LOM must be familiar with each job’s specifications and ensure compliance with our quality standards. Responsibilities include overseeing the construction of outdoor spaces and hardscapes, managing labor, materials, and equipment to ensure all operations run smoothly and efficiently, monitoring and training workers, ensuring staff observe safety guidelines and protocols, and completing various accounting and administrative duties. You should have leadership skills and a sound knowledge of mathematics, gradework, and landscape construction.

To be successful in this role, you must be able to both follow and provide instructions. An ideal Landscape Operations Manager will strive to continually expand their landscape construction knowledge, be a keen problem-solver, and possess remarkable organizational and communication skills. The LOM must work alongside company owners to ensure operations both adhere to company standards and achieve profit goals for the year. This role is responsible for budget management, time tracking, monitoring job cost reports, and reporting back to the crew(s) to enhance productivity and job efficiency. In addition to operational responsibilities, the LOM assists in hiring processes, performance evaluations, and employee development and training.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage landscape design, proposals, and construction from concept to completion.

  • Inventory Management; source, order, and stock the yard. Anticipate what materials we will need before the season starts and throughout the season. Coordinate use of materials.

  • Scheduling; coordinate project timelines and maintenance timelines with crews, subcontractors, clients, etc.

  • Maintain positive relationships with clients. Regularly update clients.

  • Communicate with clients about their project needs to write proposals. Confirm costs/budget, authorize purchases, and review invoices.

  • Delegate tasks and oversee the use of tools and equipment.

  • Coordinate snow removal operations.

  • Recruit and train new crew members.

  • Attend networking events as needed/required.

  • Facilitate a positive, results-driven team work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Required: High School Diploma

  • Residence in Grand County

  • Current Drivers License

  • TradePreferred: Bachelor’s Degree

  • Minimum 3-5 years of landscape installation experience.

  • Knowledge of tools and equipment used in landscape maintenance.

  • Heavy equipment operation experience. (Skid Steer, Mini Excavator, etc.)

  • Truck and trailer hauling capabilities. (CDL is an advantage but not required.)

  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel proficiency. Bluebeam proficiency.

  • Hands-on professional training as a landscape crew member.

  • Familiarity with landscape architecture plans.

Superintendent

Superintendents oversee on-site day-to-day construction from inception through completion in the field. Our ideal candidate is team-driven, detail-oriented, and has ample experience working in the field on projects with similar quality and scope to ours.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day field supervision
